This year on August 23-24, the enlarged meeting of Scientific and Technical Council (hereinafter referred to as STC) of the Holding Company was held under the guidance of the General Director - Chairman of the Board of JSC ROSGEO, Roman Panov. The main trends of geological surveys for solid minerals were determined and the specific proposals for geological prospecting works were reviewed for including them into the Draft List of State Order Sites for 2017-2018.
During the STC session, Roman Panov emphasized that the main activity area of JSC ROSGEO in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 957 dated July 15, 2011 is the assurance of rehabilitation of mineral resources of the Russian Federation based on the advanced geological, geophysical and geochemical technologies. Herewith, the rehabilitation of mineral resources means a package of geological prospecting works aimed at discovery of new fields and/or new reserves (reserves increment) for compensating their decrease due to production or any other factors. The Holding Company enterprises were familiarized with the tasks to enhance reliability of the obtained final result on each site proposed to be included into the Program, and the estimate stage works were emphasized. Such an approach supposes obtaining the low-category resources on the sites being processed. The formation of the Draft List of State Order Sites complies with the basic trends of subprogram “Rehabilitation of Mineral Resources, Geological Survey of Subsoil” of the State Program “Rehabilitation and Use of Mineral Resources” the basic works being focused on the exploration for highly liquid mineral resources and mineral resources in very short supply.
The gold survey works in Yeniseyskaya, Patomskaya and Yano-Kolymskaya provinces, which are referred to as the traditional leading gold producers in Russia. Simultaneously, some substantiated suggestions were put forward for creating new mineral resource bases in the Rostov Region, the Kemerovo Region and in the Republic of Khakassia. It is supposed that as a result of the appraisal works started in 2017, the gold reserve increments will be obtained and the gold forecast resources will be localized.
In addition to gold, it is supposed to expand works for polymetallic ores in Trans-Baikal and Southern Urals, for tungsten - in the Amur Region, for chrome ores - in the south of the Republic of Tyva.
The survey works for non-metallic mineral resources will be of great significance. They will be aimed at supply for innovative industries. A special review was for the issue of prospective works for coal of especially valuable ranks for preparation of areas for their subsequent licensing.
In conclusion, it was noted that according to the international experts’ appraisal, the Russian Federation is one of few countries where there are prospects for discovery of some large deposits of different mineral resources.
In the opinion of academician of RAS N. P. Pokhilenko, the distinct desire of the held session of JSC ROSGEO’s STC to ensure looking-ahead conditions for creating successful industrial and raw material clusters deserves high appreciation. To that end, a detailed analysis of trends and tasks of the State Program of Development and Competitive Recovery of the Russian industry and related problems of reliable provision of the technologies to be developed with the necessary stocks of mineral resources was carried out.
