Specialists of ROSGEO St. Petersburg subsidiary commenced the final stage of prospecting for glass sands in Vologda Region.

Geologists of JSC Severo-Zapadnoye PGO (a part of the ROSGEO Sate Holding Company, St. Petersburg) started the final stage of prospecting for the glass sands under the state contract signed by the holding and the Department of Subsoil Resources Management of the North-Western Federal District in summer 2015.

The site is located within Gornorucheisk promising area of Vytegorsky District, Vologda Region.

The specialists’ task is to delineate the occurrences of minerals suitable for production of window, technical, laboratory, medical, perfume and electric light glass, as well as fiber glass for electrical engineering.

Previous integrated geological exploration fulfilled within Vernevodlitsky subsoil area resulted in delineation of two prospective blocks totaling 464 MMt of glass sands. Technological testing revealed proper washability of sands up to high grades (OVS-20-V) suitable for production of electrotechnical and alarm glass, quality tableware, moulded “duralex” articles of mass line production, etc.

According to plans, in 2017 project implementation will be continued in accordance with the contractual conditions including the final process testing, eventual resources estimation by subsoil blocks in accordance with the sand grade.

By the end of the year, the enterprise will complete the state contract for the site and submit the final geological report to the customer.
