AO Kompaniya Votemiro’s hydrogeological service (the Orenburg Region, it is a part of Rosgeo state parent company) continues the exploration of two nomenclature sheets, i.e. M-40-I (Perevolotsky, the Orenburg Region) and M-40-II (city of Orenburg) sheets. Within the frameworks thereof, the company carried out field geological surveys of 1:200,000 scale, collection and office studies of library and field materials to compile the hydrogeological maps. The customer of the project was FSBI Gidrospetsgeologiya. The relevant agreement was signed in June 2017.
The exploration area for the year of 2018 on the territory of M-40-I sheet (Perevolotsky) made up 2,000 km2, and on the territory of M-40-II sheet – 2,030 km2.
The first area is in the Eastern part of the sheet within the Caspian and Syrtovsk artesian basins. The second is in the Western part, within Syrtovsk and Pre-Urals piedmont artesian basins.
The field studies included reconnaissance and hydrogeological traverse, survey of water intakes, experimental, filtration and surveying works on the coordinate connection of recording stations, well drilling, hydrological observations and hydrochemical testing.
The total length of traverse for the year of 2018 made up 394 running km, including 84 km of reconnaissance traverse and 310 of hydrogeological traverse. Thirty five water intakes in settlements were explored. Administratively, there are 3 water intakes in the Perevolotsky District, 9 in Sakmarsky District, and the rest 23 are in the city of Orenburg. The water intakes run the water-laden Quaternary alluvial, upper-Pleiocen, the Severodvinsk-Vyatka, Jurassic and Urzhumsky aquifers. Water sampling varies from 0.03 to 17,7534 thousand m3/day. Non-economic mineralized underground water is used for water supply in 7 settlements, such as Nikolskoye, Dedurovka im. 9 Yanvarya, Nizhnyaya Pavlovka, Dzhelandy, Blagoslovenka and Experimentalny. Mineralization here varies from 1.2 to 5.1 g/dm3. The total water hardness is from 9.7 to 12.4 mg-equ/dm3. The water is very hard. There is an increased content of chlorides and sulfates. There is no water conditioning and purification at water intakes.
The concentration of oil products and phenols is less than the maximum permissible limits in all the surveyed objects. The same applies to the content of other inorganic substances stipulated by the current sanitary regulations and standards.
Field office studies of materials are still in progress.
In 2018, the drilling of core drill wells was completed. In total, 1,350 running meters have been drilled. The samples were selected for comprehensive studies and radiation assessment of water safety.
Geophysical surveys were conducted only in deep wells.
Besides, hydrometric measurement work of water flow in 24 sections of rivers was conducted in August 2018.
As a result, the degree of geological and hydrogeological certainty of the territory has been increased, hydrogeological conditions thereof have been specified, two areas of fresh groundwater secured from surface contamination (Samaro-Sakmar and Sakmar-Ural watersheds) have been identified, the current state and use of underground resources of main aquifer units used for water supply of settlements have been assessed.
As a result, a set of preliminary digital hydrogeological maps for 4,030 km2 area of M-40-I (Perevolotsky) and M-40-II (Orenburg) sheets, including hydrogeological, hydrochemical maps of the main aquifers, the use of drinking, technical, mineral groundwater maps have been compiled.
