In 2011, the North Ossetia Geological Service marked its 80th year anniversary. Sevosgeologorazvedka is a successor to the Soviet Service. It specializes in replenishing reserves and resources of highly liquid (gold and silver), strategic (lead, zinc, and copper), and extremely scarce minerals (bentonite, raw materials for the production of basalt fibre, cement raw materials, and clays), as well as fresh and mineral groundwater in the region and works on providing the required mineral resources to the state.
Exploration results (cartographic materials, evaluation of inferred resources, estimation of reserves, etc.) are processed with the GIS systems. Technical capacities and highly skilled personnel at the enterprise ensure the high quality of exploration works. The company is actively involved in solving social and economic issues in the North Caucasian Region and provides for safeguarding geopolitical interests of Russia at the country’s southern border.
