Exploration of SCM in the World Ocean

RosGeo performs a set of geological surveys of the resources on the floor of the World Ocean aimed at preservation and further expansion of the mineral resource base of the Russian Federation and establishment of the strategic reserve of mineral resources.

The work in all three areas are conducted within the licensed areas, i.e. Russian exploration areas (REA-FMC, REA-DWPS, REA-CRFMC).

The operations are carried out in the framework of the contracts with International Seabed Authority (ISA) for deepwater exploration of mineral fields in several key areas:

  • geological survey of ferro-manganese nodules (FMN) in Clarion-Clipperton ore province of the Pacific Ocean
  • geological survey of deepwater polymetallic sulphides (DWPS) in the Atlantic Ocean
  • geological survey of cobalt-rich ferro-manganese crusts (CRFMC) in the Magellan Mountains of the Pacific Ocean
